How to use color forms

Understanding the
Beauty of Right Sequence

In his Principles of Color (1), Faber Birren devotes a major portion of the book to something he calls The Beauty of Right Sequence. Using the color triangle he developed in 1937, he demonstrates that staight-line sequences result in harmony. According to Birren's theory, there are eight sequences that are "natural and concordant".

His work with color forms is important in that it bridges the gap between the concepts of color and the concepts of value.
