PERSONAL:

  • was born on Wofford College Campus, her father was Dan DuPre, professor of Physics and Geology and College Treasurer for 53 years.

  • Her Grandfather had held the Chair of Natural Science on the original Wofford faculty.

  • (1927) Husband Carlos Roland Moseley was killed in an accident, leaving her with three children, aged 16 months to twelve years; one of these children was son Carlos, a pianist, and former director of the New York Philharmonic.

  • (1934-1956) Roosevelt appointed her Postmaster of Spartanburg, a post she held until her recent retirement.

  • A 9th generation American, she received a Certificate of Merit from the Council of the Institute of American Genealogy for her research.

  • Her collection of 13,000 stereopticon slides now form the basic collection of the Oliver Wendell Holmes Stereoscopic research Library in Pennsylvania.

  • (c.1947) she began painting at age 60

  • (1957) Charter member of the Historical Association

  • She was a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Club

  • (1964) Converse College which awarded her with its Distinguished Alumna Award while she was serving on its Board of Trustees

  • (1994) When she died, the S.C. Legislature passed a resolution which read, "Mrs. Moseley had a profound influence on the State of South Carolina."
