East Main Street is shown from Liberty Street in the early 1940s. The Palmetto Theater was one of several movie theaters in this block. The Strand Theater is seen on down the street. On the left, the Commercial Hotel occupies the building which was the first location of Benjamin Steedley's private hostpital.
