• 1903 - The Barnum Bailey circus came to town in 1903. The parade of elephants is turning the corner from East Main Street onto North Church Street.
  
  
• 1910 - After a two story addition was made to the Palmetto Building on East Main Street, Augustus Wardlaw Smith moved his store from Abbeville to Spartanburg.
  
  
• 1950s - changes that took place in '50s
  
  
• 1960s - Montgomery Ward and S. H. Kress Co. were some of the major national department stores that marked downtown shopping in the 1960s.
  
  
• 1965 - This building and the turn-of-the-century building that once stood where the Farmer's Market now stands
