The
purpose of this site
This
site is devoted to serving two basic needs of the downtown area:
- preserving
the historic downtown area by showing the public its historical
value...
- helping
the small local businesses better compete against huge national
chains that would put them out of business.
Three
tools have been developed to accomplish our goals:
- a
virtual walking tour of historic downtown Spartanburg based
on the tour designed by the
Spartanburg County Historical Association,
- a
map of downtown Spartanburg with hot spots that not only take
you to the street views of downtown businesses, but also to information
about what they do and historical information about the building
they occupy, and
- lists
of downtown merchants and businesses linked to their site
pages.
